The Cardinals Pass On Taking Cam Newton, Go Defense In First Round
The Cardinals defense needs serious upgrades and the Cardinals will use this pick to address the deficiencies in that unit.
The Cardinals will pass on taking a quarterback in the draft because they’re going to do that through trades or free agency. Quinn will be an immediate upgrade over anyone currently on that roster. The Cardinals defense was atrocious last year. They had trouble competing in the NFC West, a division that was won with a 7-9 record.
The Cardinals could take a chance on Cam Newton or Blaine Gabbert, but they already have a project in John Skelton and possibly Max Hall. Both were terrible last year, but both could benefit from more time in the system.
So Quinn it is for the Cardinals, who will try and make another playoff run with a new quarterback via trade or free agency in 2011.
